Our Mission
The mission of EGMEA is to be a leader in advancing the geosciences, enhancing the professional growth of its members, and promoting the geosciences in the service of humankind.
Our Vision
EGMEA will be a broad, unifying scientific society:
- Fostering the human quest for understanding Earth, planets, and life;
- Catalyzing new scientific ways of thinking about natural systems; and
- Supporting the application of geoscience knowledge and insight to human needs, aspirations, and stewardship of the Earth.
EGMEA, The Ethiopian Geoscience and Mineral Engineering Association, is open to geoscientists and Mineral Engineers working in Ethiopia. Although EGMEA is Ethiopian-based members are welcome wherever they live.
EGMEA is a non-governmental and non-profit-making organization operating exclusively for scientific research and educational purposes.
EGMEA's aim is to promote and develop communications in Geosciences by providing efficient means for co-operation among geoscientists and mineral engineers in all their respective disciplines and to encourage publications in th geosciences and mineral engineering.

OBJECTIVES
- To develop and promote geo science education and research
- To provide fora for the exchange of ideas through publication and meetings
- To popularize geo science, especially in schools
- To enhance the participation and collaboration of geo scientists in matters pertaining to policies in curriculum development and training of geo scientists
- To establish close relationships among geo scientists and other professionals engaged in geo science-related fields so as to increase the role of geo science in national development
- To promote the improvement and the qualifications of members and
- To establish and strengthen links with other societies, national and international, which pursue similar aims.
